THE BEST ACHIEVED IBDP RESULTS AT SJIIS THUS FAR!

The 2021 SJIIS Year 13 pupils are to be congratulated on attaining outstanding IBDP results. SJIIS has been offering the IBDP since its inception and the results have always been excellent each year, with 2021 seeing SJIIM scoring its first perfect score and achieving the best results to date!

  • 55% or 10 students scored perfect scores of 45 points (45 points/45 points).
  • Average score was 43 points, outperforming the 2021 average score worldwide of 33.02 points.
  • 78% scored 40 points and above, placing them within the top 9% of the world who achieved 40 to 45 points.
  • 100 Pass rate.

Students who study on the IB Diploma Programme take 6 subjects across either 5 or 6 different subject “groups”. They can earn a possible 7 points for each subject, adding up to a maximum total of 42 points. Additionally, up to 3 “bonus points” can be earned through the combination of their grades for Theory of Knowledge and an extended (research) essay of up to 4,000 words on a subject of their choice – both of which are compulsory for all IBDP students. This leads to a maximum possible total of 45 points. As an example of how difficult it is to achieve the maximum score, in 2020, only 0.45% of IBDP students worldwide earned a perfect score of 45 points.

These result statistics are superb, considering that the school is only about six years old. In addition, students have completed their IBDP studies and sat for their IBDP examinations in very challenging circumstances, given the movement control orders and lockdown in Malaysia since last year.

Madam Mak Frances, our Head of School commented “The school has always known that this cohort of IB students is very academically brilliant. They are self- motivated and resilient. We are confident that they will continue to excel in the universities that they have chosen to join. We look forward to hearing updates on their developments and experiences. Our very best wishes to the 2021 IB batch.”

Maureen Fitzgerald, the IBDP Coordinator of SJIIS, was also beaming with pride at the performance of her charges. She said, “I am so enormously proud of our students for these extraordinary results. Every single one of the students in this year’s graduating cohort achieved or exceeded our expectations. Not only did they all do incredibly well academically, but they did it alongside enormous personal and academic challenges, having pursued more than a year of their IBDP studies through the pandemic. They are all exceptional young people, who have pushed themselves to develop as human beings, to challenge themselves beyond what they thought they could achieve, and to generate creative solutions to all of the unexpected difficulties along the way. I wish them so much luck in their future steps, and know that they will bring so much good to the world from what they have learned.”

SJIIS students can now look forward to taking their place at prestigious global institutions. We are proud of each and every one of them and congratulations once again!
