Sahana Fried was born, raised and educated in the heart of England. After graduating from university, she took her first teaching post in North London. With a desire to explore the world, Sahana’s international career took off in 2001. She has worked with outstanding schools in China for 12 joyful years and immersing herself in the Chinese language and culture at the same time. In 2012, she relocated to one of California’s most prestigious private schools before accepting a post in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Her experience in Years 1, 2, 3 and 4 have taught her how to balance academic excellence with the social and personal development of the students and instilling a love of learning that will last a lifetime. Sahana gained her honours degree in Education from the University of Hertfordshire. She believes that education is about the exciting emotional connections we form with our young students, the opening of doors on their journey of discovery and the joy of being a part of their lives on the road to becoming mature and well-rounded global citizens. She describes her classroom as a safe, welcoming and dynamic learning environment where children are active and engaged. She believes a classroom should be a community and each child’s sense of belonging to that community is essential to their ability to learn and grow.
