Garry began at SJIIM as a founding member in the academic year of 2016-2017. Before that, he taught for five years at the Australian International School in Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates. There, he taught Years 6, 7, 8, and 9, and served as a Leader of Learning in the Middle School. Prior to that, he taught in his native country, Australia before he decided that his talents would be put to better use in the international sphere. Garry holds a Bachelor of Education in English and Humanities from Australia’s Griffith University. He is currently teaching IB and IGCSE Language and Literature, as well as Theory of Knowledge and IGCSE Geography. Garry also runs the Horrible Histories CCA in which students engage with different historical eras in fun and hands-on ways. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling, reading, cooking, geopolitics, and brushing up on his spoken German. He believes in the intrinsic worth of a robust education of Literature and the Humanities, and sees it as vital to gaining a deep understanding of the world in which we live.
