We are delighted to announce another set of fantastic Year 6 academic results for the 2022/23 year.
At the end of each academic year our students undertake assessments in English and Maths using GL Assessment’s ‘Progress Tests’. These are standardised assessments widely used in the UK and around the world. They enable us to measure the attainment of our pupils against English National Curriculum objectives, and combined with ongoing teacher assessment, allow us a very good understanding of the standard of achievement of our Elementary School students.
The tests provide us with an individual score from 59-141, with a score of 100 being the UK average. As you can see in the graph and table, our Year 6 children performed very well again this year with an average mark significantly higher than both the UK and International average score in English of 113 (compared to 100 in the UK and 105.6 internationally) and Maths 108 (compared with 100 in the UK and 101.1 internationally).
When looking in more detail at the attainment in English of our Year 6 students, we can see that 98% of our students achieved a score of 100 or above. Furthermore, 64% of our students achieved a score above average or higher, and 31% scored well above the UK average. This compares very favourably to percentages in the UK where only 23% of children achieved above-average scores and only 11% achieved well above average scores.
When looking in more detail at the attainment in maths of our Year 6 students, we can see that 79% of our students achieved a score of 100 or above. Furthermore, 39% of our students achieved a score above average or higher, and 23% scored well above the UK average. This compares very favourably to percentages in the UK where only 23% of children achieved above-average scores and only 11% achieved well above average scores.
he Progress Tests also provide a useful indicator as to how students would perform if they were to take the Year 6 SATS in the UK. You will see that our test results indicate that 96% of our students would achieve the expected standard in reading (compared to only 73% of students achieving this in the actual UK SATs this year). Furthermore, 41% of our students would achieve above the expected standard (the data for this comparison is not available for the UK). In Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPAG), you will see 96% of our students would achieve the expected standard (compared to only 72% who achieved this in the UK this year ) and 56% would achieve above the expected standard. In Maths, 89% of our students would achieve the expected standard (compared to only 73% in the UK this year) and 37% would achieve above the expected standard.
