Hot on the heels of SJIIM’s Term 3 Whole School Production of The Jungle Book, the High School performed their take on the family movie favourite of Sing 2, aptly titled Finding Clay.
Across 8th, 9th and 10th December, students, staff and the wider community were treated to outstanding performances including live orchestra, rock band, Chinese drums and K-pop dancers who joined our cast and chorus members.
There were gasps from the audience as the mission to find Clay culminated in a Sci-Fi show spectacular with fantastic lighting being highlighted by the billows of smoke that covered the stage as the curtains opened.
Both our experienced performers and newer Year 7 and 8 students rose to the occasion and shone as actors, singers, dancers and musicians. A special mention to the student tech team, who managed the light and sound beautifully!
The show would not have gone out with the help and support of our dedicated parents who have worked tirelessly to create sets and costumes, as well as work magic with makeup for our talented cadre of actors and actresses. Thank you all so much – your commitment and dedication are greatly appreciated.
Our show was produced and directed this year by the extremely talented, Clay Calloway … err, we mean, Mr Hague! His musical vision and technical skills were apparent in this stunning production. Clay’s identity was a surprise each night and Friday and Saturday’s audiences were treated to appearances from Mr Julio Garcia and Mr Robert Hazelhurst.
Leading the orchestra was renowned conductor Eugene Pook who arranged much of the orchestral music specifically for the show, and ably assisted by the music teachers, Mr Yann and Ms Kimberly, by Mr Garry Glanz (drama) and Ms Maddy Williams (singing), as well as staff from across the ES and HS.
Throughout the show and its preparations, we saw clearly the Lasallian spirit of our community. Faith (in each other and that it would come together), Service (to each other and all the teamwork and hours given) and Community (as we’ve all been drawn together through these performances, performers and audience).
We look forward to the ES production later in the year and what the HS has in store this time next year.
Thank you again for coming.
