Klarissa showed exceptional talent in Art & Design throughout her time at SJIIS, so it is with great pride and pleasure to announce that she scored the highest score in the WORLD for her IGCSE Art & Design examination. What an achievement – one that is thoroughly deserved!
Congratulations to these three outstanding students from our Class of 2024 who achieved the top scores in Malaysia for their Cambridge IGCSE examinations in Coordinated Science, International Mathematics, History and English Literature. We couldn’t be more proud of them!
As Assistant Principal of Teaching & Learning, I can say that I never become complacent with the talent and work ethic of our students here at SJIIS. I continue to be impressed year after year, and the Class of 2024 was no exception. The students that we are celebrating here are not only exceptional in our eyes but have been recognised by Cambridge IGCSE for their top scores in Malaysia and the world.
We are very lucky to attract some of the best students in Malaysia through our doors, not just because they desire outstanding grades, but because they value the balance of academics with service learning in our Lasallian community. These three young people (Klarissa, Joe & Maya) are not only role models to our younger community who wish to achieve academic success, but they also exemplify what it means to be true Lasallians. All three embody the virtues of humility, grace and kindness, always giving back to the school community. Klarissa consistently contributed her artwork to the school to develop community murals that depicted our values. Joe, who scored top in Malaysia for International Maths a year early, continues now in Year 11 to not only excel in Maths but to contribute to school shows and assemblies with his outstanding musical ability. Maya, who now continues her studies in Beijing, immersed herself in every aspect of school life, leading and encouraging other students to do the same.
We wish all the very best to these students and congratulate them on their effort and for exemplifying true Lasallian spirit in their journey to academic excellence.

“Once again, our students have demonstrated the highest standards of academic excellence. Since our founding in 2016, SJIIS has consistently nurtured talented individuals who strive for greatness but do so with humility, respect and support for one another. Their hard work and dedication continue to inspire us all. Having known Klarissa, Maya and Joe for many years, I could not be prouder of them. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our students and our sincere gratitude to our dedicated faculty and supportive parents.”

“I’m incredibly overwhelmed and am honestly still in disbelief. This award is both an honour and a deeply personal milestone. To be recognised for my art validates the hundreds of hours of dedication I put into it — from the years of prior practice and study to brainstorming initial concepts, and finally, bringing them to life through various mediums. Though by the end I truly felt the burnout, I wouldn’t trade back that journey for the world. IGCSE art challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and experiment with ideas and materials I never would have thought of otherwise. It not only made me a better artist but a tougher person — because if I can get through IGCSE art, I can get through anything.
Regarding Coordinated Science, I’m just thankful that my millions of flashcards and self-made worksheets pulled through!
I could not have achieved any of this if it weren’t for the constant love and support of my parents, the comfort and reassurance of my friends, and the encouragement of my art and coordinated science teachers, Ms Florence, Ms Parker, Ms Aileen, Mr Madhi, and Mr King. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank them for everything they’ve done for me, as without these people, even the sheer possibility of this achievement would have felt a universe away.”

“I was pleased to hear the news of my results; I am particularly passionate about English and History and hope to continue these studies at university. I am so grateful for the support of my teachers in developing these passions both in my school work and co-curricular opportunities.”

“Maths once felt like banging my head against a wall, but I’ve realised that, even starting from rock bottom, every mountain is climbable with grit and determination. My deepest thanks go to my incredible teachers, supportive parents and friends, and the engaging school environment that helped me on my climb!”
