Ann Hui Ling Position: Mandarin Teacher

Hui Ling is from Malaysia and holds a Master of Education in Educational Psychology from Universiti Sains Malaysia, a Bachelor of Psychology from HELP University College, and a Teaching Certificate in Chinese for Speakers of Other Languages. Her journey in education spans 16 years, with over a decade dedicated to international schools.

Over the past four years, Hui Ling served as the Head of Languages Department at Adcote-Matrix International School in Seremban, Malaysia. In this role, she oversaw the curriculum and assessment design, and coached department members to enhance their IGCSE subject knowledge and teaching approaches. She also organized various cultural and charitable events, such as Chinese New Year charity sales, implemented memory strategies to help students expand their vocabularies, and initiated a pen-pal collaboration project with a school in Australia, where students from both schools exchanged letters to enhance their language skills and cultural understanding.

Hui Ling’s previous roles include leading the Primary Mandarin program at an IB school and the Modern Foreign Language Department at a Cambridge school. Her diverse experience has always been driven by a passion for language education and a commitment to student success.

Hui Ling believes in creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students can thrive. She strives to integrate real-world contexts and cultural elements into her teaching, making learning both practical and engaging. Her approach is rooted in the belief that education is a holistic journey that nurtures both the mind and the well-being of students.

Outside of her professional life, Hui Ling enjoys reading, practicing yoga, and spending time with her family. She is excited to join the SJIIM community and looks forward to contributing to the rich tapestry of student learning and development.
