Samar is originally from Toronto, Canada and is a graduate of the University of Toronto’s five-year Concurrent Teacher Education Program. She holds a Bachelor of Education, Honours Bachelor of Arts and Qualified Teacher Status from the British Department of Education. She has been teaching for 8 years in Early Years and Key Stage 1 in Canadian schools and British international schools in Tunisia.
Samar was drawn to international teaching having grown up in multiple cities and countries. She greatly appreciated her childhood of adventures and enjoys sharing that history and experience with her pupils. She grew up speaking English, French and some conversational Arabic which has fostered a love of languages.
Samar was specifically drawn to SJIIM for its dedication to nurturing children’s wellbeing and its focus on values-driven education. She is committed to creating a gentle, compassionate classroom that nonetheless engenders excitement and passion, working with children’s innate sense of curiosity and natural desire to express, create and find community and harmony with others.
In her spare time, Samar enjoys embroidery, painting, yoga, hiking and learning new languages.
